I certainly hope she reviews the printer division and their continued slide to mediocracy......this rant is NOT about trying to go around customer service, but is a detailed reason why HP is losing hte printer game all together by focusing onthe wrong thing.....
I have had HP printers for as long as they have made them (like 1985) and they have always been built well, but had expensive supplies. I started with complex plotters and moved to their laser printers.
in the early 2000 timeframe, they began a cost cutting effort which has resulted in so many poor designs and sloppy software, I see it as HP shooting themselves in the foot. Here are a few examples of these and issues that they created.
I bought an All in one printer in 2003, 7310 xi. Used it until it wore out. Was happy with it for the most part mechanically. the sheet feeder did not work. So I replaced it with the newer version, the 7410xi in 2009. but when I got it, they now would not allow me to use it with a plug in strip and would not honor alot of issues because I had it wired that way without direct wiring to my house outlet. same box, same power supply, but now I have to tear a $10k built in desk all apart to be able to hook this SAME printer up to an outlet that has been running their own product for more than 5 years. So I just ignored them and went on with the printer. It worked mostly fine.
Then the networking problems appeared. Wireless in the 7410 xi does not work and NOBODY at HP is interested in finding a cure for it. The complaint is all over the blogs. It takes out my entire network, including my routers with phantom packets generated over the wireless and the ethernet. HP wants me to pay them to fix this bug.
so I bought a new one for my wife, the 7600 series. Same bugs, same problems. Just more expensive INK.
I get updates of their Printer Center software which gets far more complex every time they release it, yet it does not work at all. It has so many bugs in it, which have been there for years and never get fixed., in order to report them you have to pay them.
so the list is quite alot longer than this wiht many issues where they are shutting the door on how to keep this market.
But I will bet that they saved costs and got their customer service costs way down starting with Carlie. but will they lose the entire market due to total ignorance and arrogance? I think so.
It doesn;t have to be this bad HP, you were king of this market. Why keep kicking your own tail? |
