I think the max number per machine is 2000 proc/yr. The Visx machine is $525,000 with 2 years free maintenance. However, there are attractive lease options available which charge based on the number of procedures performed (refer to Visx's web page www.visx.com). I'm hoping the demand for PRK picks up to the point where 1000 machines will be sold. I also think Visx will sell the lions share of these, and would keep it running at max capacity for the next 5 or 6 years. Remember 200 of the current machines can not do astigmatic corrections and these maybe replaced in the next few years by Visx's STAR.
