I believe that in cases where the guilt of the perpetrator is completely and fully verified by numerous witnesses and physical media such as video or audio, the right to a speedy trial should be observed just outside the gas chamber. The time that it takes the criminal to go from crime scene to conviction to execution in such cases should be measured in minutes, not decades. -ng-

In the case you cited, GZ, I think that judge received a healthy dose of poetic justice.
