The new Amazon tablets are expected in the first half of 2012, which puts them ahead of the Krait launch.

You are right that there are rumors about a new 9"/10" tablet in the near-term but I was just guessing that Amazon would likely wait until the fall of 2012 for a new 7". Q should be commercially shipping both the MSM and APQ versions of Krait by then.

ICS hasn't even come to market yet, so I would say you have not seen anything yet as far as tablet competition goes. It has not started - not even close.

ICS looks very cool but I dont think that it is going to remove the price cap that Apple has effectively created on the high-end. IMO, a $500 Galaxy tablet is still going to have a tough time competing against the iPad and none of the first-tier manufacturers will be able to compete with Amazon on price.

It isnt that there wont be any market for these manufacturers, just that there are going to be a ton of manufacturers splitting a fairly small share.
