As you say, Good Afternoon Sage. I have always wondered why the US foreign policy is so unfair and contradictory. Just on example, they did not give a hoot about more than 60,000 Kurds in North Iran who were attacked by chemical bombs of Saddam back in the early 80s during the Iran and Iraq. Now almost 15 years later, they care so much that they are willing to send more troops over there.

Any idea why the lives of the same group of people over time is worth less or more?

I have a few good reasons but I would like to hear your version.
