having the two together woudl have strained the combined entity. in other words, the stock wouldn't have gone up that much, maybe to thirty. i think they saw the future and they got what they wanted. 20/share is a great price, especially when you consider that the offer was probably made when AMTX was below 15 and things in the market did not look that good.
