Joe, That should be offset by Catholics who can't vote for Obama because it would be a mortal sin.

Archbishop Raymond Burke of St. Louis had informed his archdiocese that

Catholics in St. Louis who vote for political candidates supportive of abortion rights have committed a grave sin in the eyes of the Church, and should confess and do penance before receiving Communion. ("Voting for abortion rights candidate is a sin," SLToday.com, June 25, 2004)

What is interesting to me, the Catholic Church is one of the most conscience organizations to be most socially concerned with those who do not have adequate resources and/or living in poverty. In organizing, the Catholic Church was one of the first organization which had a social conscience who became active in neighborhood organizing. Ed. Chambers, the CEO of the Industrial Area Foundation, (late Saul Alinski's organization) was preparing to become a priest. He was the CEO when I went through Alinski's Institute in the late 70's and working in the South side of Chicago prior to going to work for the National Education Association.

I wonder how the Catholic Church members and other conservative church members will vote, either for pro-life with the exception of rape or incest, or with their social conscience. What will trump, pro-life or taking care of those with inadequate resources and/or living in poverty?
