Maybe that was the earnings projection for the month of October! Theoretically, Apple could sell almost as many iPhones in the US as they sold during the September quarter, which was 17 million. Estimates are starting to move past 30 million iPhones for the quarter to 35 million for the quarter. I don't think 40 million iPhones for the quarter is out of the question.
