"AT&T told UBS analyst Maynard Um that its iPhone sales are off the hook this quarter. Ma Bell said on Wednesday that it sold some 6 million iPhones in just the first two months of the quarter, just shy of the company’s previous full quarter record of 6.1 million units—the company expects to blow past that number during December, which has traditionally been a good month for the iPhone."

This is a misquote-- AT&T said they had shipped 6 million *smartphones* so far, without separately breaking down iPhones. They also strongly hinted at being on pace to sell 9 million smartphones for the quarter. I would guess that 7 million of them will be iPhones, since AT&T has never exceeded 2 million in non-Apple smartphones for any quarter. One thing is certain-- Android is about to lose massive market share in the US.
