Alex,

I would have to disagree 1) that it is a question of numbers, i.e. "the greatest good for the greatest number", and 2) that they led a gypsy existence in Europe, any more than I am leading a gypsy existence here in America, just because my ancestors came from somewhere else.

I really comes down to the totally arrogant, distasteful, and dangerous idea of being "God's chosen people", and secondarily, to attaching any importance to the maintenance of a religious tradition.
