We used to have a bookstore called the Either Or Bookstore that climbed up the side of a steep hill for a block so that every room was a few steps up. Wonderful place with every imaginable kind of book. Another one called Duttons on the Westside that was built around a patio and had a small bakery and coffee shop in one of the rooms. Lots of comfy chairs scattered around. Easy to spend hours there.

But then came the chain stores and then Amazon.
