My sister and her husband did three or four 'years at sea' at different times in their lives. Sis says she got tired of life and death decisions every five minutes during hurricane season.

My cousin Gay, also a blue water sailor, had a close brush with death in the South Pacific, from parasitic meningitis or some weird thing she pick up down in Borneo. Her husband flew her to Australia and their kids sailed the boat over. She came out fine.
