Those questions are crafted from libertarian talking points. The real questions we face are not quite so simplistic. You present a false choice.

For example with financial regulation, I could live with minimal regulation if and only if the people who make bad bets and lose are allowed to fail. But now we have a situation where they are bailed out instead of being allowed to fail.

So we have precisely the worst of both worlds.

Now the financial corporate entities are restructuring and doing everything possible so that when they fail this time, and they will, the loss will again be passed on to the suckers, the taxpayers.
