I agree, GZ. There are some things about Gingrich that I like, but, unfortunately, it's not enough for me to support him. Ultimately, I cannot support him or vote for him because of his position on illegal immigration and the fact that he is more concerned about rewarding illegal invaders than he is about upholding the law and supporting the lawful rights of American citizens like you, me, our families, and our conservative friends.
When I cast my vote, it has to be for the person whom I best identify with.
I agree with what you stated earlier about Romney, too. He has some leftist tendencies that make him largely unpalatable as a candidate. My big fear about Romney is that he would take Obamacare and try to tweak it into Romneycare, rather than completely destroying it; all of it!
It would be interesting to look at a full political scorecard that reveals who is more liberal; Romney or Gingrich. I think it would be close regardless of the outcome. Several Democratic pundits last week indicated that a Gingrich presidency would be very favorable for Democrats. What are their positions on capital gains taxes?
I think it's deplorable that we do not have a real, electable conservative candidate to represent us in the White House.
I think I'll ultimately write in Bachmann's name or perhaps someone else who is a legitimate conservative. I perceive Gingrich or Romney as RINOs.
It's just a bad situation, regardless of who we personally support, my friend. There are few real options, so I certainly cannot fault you or anyone for supporting Gingrich, and hopefully no one faults me for opposing him. -g- |
