You really are a hoot. Listen, steve, I think the problem is you are apparently a man who has, for some reason, had to spend much of his life convincing other people that you are bright. I believe that you probably have some very real talents. I don't know what they are but I believe you have them or you couldn't possibly have survived this long among intelligent people. No way, no how.
Get this: you may even be brighter than I am, and you know what? I am confortable with that possibility. I don't believe it for a minute, but the truth is I would not be insecure in the least if I discovered that you are truly a genius. Now you can call that arrogance of youth, or you can say that I am one very well-adjusted human being. No matter how you slice it, I am not afraid to appear normal, i.e. less than all knowing, and you are. I have nothing to prove. I really, really don't care whether you perceive me as a whiz or a goof. That said, I won't take any bs either. I will drop all pretense of civility and respect and push back. That's where the "well-adjusted human being" theory breaks down :)
You spend enormous amounts of energy painting yourself as a guru or an authority on a lot of things, and you do so frequently. Your content, or the facts as you refer to them, would probably convince people you know what you are talking about without all of the histrionics. So why bother? I have in the past had a question that I did not know the answer to, and since it was about CPQ I knew, I just knew, you that you would know the answer, but you know what? After all of your crowing, I couldn't bring my self to feed your megalomania. I honestly believed I was doing us both a favor by keeping the question to myself.
