In addition, it cited internal documents written by Microsoft executives to buttress its allegation that the company violated the 1995 consent decree, including a draft of press questions and answers from January 11, 1995, which said the company had "no plans to ship...the Mosaic [browser] software in the Windows 95 box."

The government noted that the document showed that "Internet Explorer was not designed or 'developed' to be an integrated product with Windows 95."

The DOJ also said that Microsoft executive Jim Allchin wrote in a December 20, 1996, memo that his company lacked any special Web browser. The Microsoft executive said his company should therefore "leverage Windows" to help "win" the browser war with its rival, Netscape Communications.

But a company spokesman maintained that the government had known for more than two years that the company was bringing out a product that integrated Windows 95 with a Web browser.

So, DOJ knew in 1993 that Microsoft was going to integrate Windows 95 with a "Web browser". So, MSN is the Web now, not just "the Net". But, after what- three years development? Microsoft had to go cut a deal with Spyglass to get the Mosaic code. So, let's go tell it to the judge.
