There is not a need to deport all illegals.

Shut off the spigot that attracts illegals and we will see a reversal of the trend. Why do illegals come to the US? It is for monetary reasons (jobs) and certain benefits. But the reality is that US policy when it comes to illegals is schizophrenic. We don't want illegals but we don't want to penalize employers who hire illegals - at least we don't want to enforce laws that will penalize them for hiring illegals.

Until such time that we are willing to address this issue head-on the problem with illegals will continue. Even if there is a general amnesty given to all illegals currently in the US, we will have a repeat of this problem in a few years. Sure we can tighten our borders but we cannot make it fool-proof.

When Perry justifies offering state tuition to illegals, it maintains the incentive for illegals to stay and for new ones to come to the US. When Gingrich talks about offering legal residence to those who have been in the country for many years and have been established roots here, it creates an incentive for more illegals to enter the country.

And under the family reunification provisions of the immigration laws, a citizen can then sponsor other close relatives to come into the country legally.

If we as a nation are going to maintain incentives for illegals to come and stay here, it would be pointless to then complain about the problem. Don't you agree?
