Yes, learning how to get away from a hand when you are beat is a must. In no limit, a guy like Brunson can go a long way by just playing position. I don't believe in luck, just odds. I do believe in playing using the unconscious as much as one can e.g. playing ones first impression.

And knowing when one is too tired, or too scattered to play well. I usually took a week off between sessions to rest my mind. And there are always exceptions e.g. some games can be beat when one is both tired and drunk-lol.

And understanding negative expectation bets are a must as they happen so often.

I did win a $35,000 no limit tourney once on party poker? $176 buy in and 1,000 players, but I am a limit player and too old to learn to be a top no limit player. In no limit tourneys I can play well enough to get lucky sometimes and when we yanks could play on line at the end I just played tourneys as so much software was being used in regular games.

In face to face live games, not relying on software and having my hand values and pot odds memorized gives me a big advantage.
