james, Everything in the abstract you cite points to prevention of HIV, not to therapy. Every good preventive vaccine is supposed to elicit a humoral (antibodies) and a cellular (T-cell) response. Still the concept of therapeutic vaccine is not so far fetched and is being investigated, even for HIV; and as an example I offer the following link to a press release by Merck/Vical techstocks.com If a preventive vaccine for HIV is seen as 10 years away, I am not sure how far into the future we have to look for a therapeutic one. I don't even know if there are working/approved therapeutic vaccines against anything at this time. PB
