"Science" is nothing more than a word, derived from a different language, the Latin "scire", which means "to know". Those that do not know how they know, will not be helped by being told. Those that know, do not need to be told.
Any definition, of anything, will ultimately lead to a circle. Pick a word at random from the dictionary, follow the definitions, each word defined by another, and you will eventually end up going in circles. Is that what you want, JF, to go around in circles?
If you can accept common meanings, science is performed through a combination of logic and experience, where its conclusions are, to a greater or lesser degree, commonly accepted.
