Jameel Jaffers deputy director of ACLU was on Rachel Maddow tonight saying the defense bill has terrible provisions allowing the further militarization of our country by allowing the suspension of habeas corpus if a person is suspected of terrorism. Obama said he would veto it and then decided to let it go. This is what we fought the revolutionary war for, so kings and dictators could not imprison people without legal recourse; and it was usually for crimes against the state (accusation of terrorism seems to fit that bill). The right wing is taking us right down an Orwellian road with gestapo tactics and we could use a little more help from the executive branch. Voter suppression is another issue we need to get on. The Republican's seem organized to destroy our democracy and we need more dem fighters.
