Mike, I feel much the way you do about the inability of
Amati to continue on as a single entity to the dsl promiseland.
I've liked TI for a long time and had a small position in it
in my IRA. I sold my 17 1/2's today to raise the cash and bought some more today rather than hope another suitor raised the bid. TI will not stay this low too long. The market oversold it and is now bringing it back to fair value. Also, TI splits next week and will start to become available to smaller investors again.

I still don't know if I made money in Amati. Over an 18 month
period, I've been in at 8 and 28. I definitely did not make money
playing options on it and the Jan. 20's hurts because I overloaded
on that one figuring 1st qrt. earnings surprises, gte contract and
general dsl confirmation from the markets.

I guess the 1996 "field guides" won't be a collectors item
although I still have two in mint condition. What a waste.
As Marlon put it so eloquently, "But I could da bin a contender"

Oh well, maybe Motorola will have something to say before this
is all over.

Regards,

Bruce
