Just curious. Hope your ego can take it.

I know my own ignorance and stupidity in a general way and so see all people as having the same blind spots. Nothing we can do about it as it is the human condition.

I read your posts and you are very smart, educated and have a great personality, but I detect a pretty large blind spot in your thinking. I have held off from mentioning it as I didn't want to offend you, but maybe you can take this post as a reason to take a second look at one of your mentors.

Of course, I am talking about Ayn Rand . I am a very hard core liberal and in my group Ayn Rand is seen as a cruel joke. A sociopath who ran a cult, was as mean as a junk yard dog and had a bankrupt philosophy.

There are two new biographies on Rand which tell how she made her followers consult with her not only about their marriages, but even the movies they wanted to see. So much for individual freedom she espoused. And she saw the common man as vermin. The common man or woman is usually just uneducated; and no one is vermin.

She convinced one of her followers (20 years her junior) to sleep with her and convinced his wife and her husband to go along with it. It went on for 14 years. Objectivism is a fantasy, not possible.

This a favorite quote among we liberals:

"-- There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs. ,"
