John: When i spoke to the business i trade with (Ceres Securities for
only $18/transaction), they stated that the number of shares you see
traded within a given day are the number sold. I also wonder where
information about the number bought is located. Sorry I'm not much
help.

Logically, I would assume that if a stock goes up in price, more shares
are bought than sold. Thus, further demand means an increase in price.
So i guess, technically, the price could go from $4.81 yesterday to
$6 with only i share being sold at $6.00. Obviously this won't occur
yet this is how the market functions. The market maker has to let an
individual buy shares at the market price (ask) and has to let you sell
shares at the market proce (bid). The tiny gap of around 5% between these
numbers reflects the profit the maker makes.
