It's not even a loss. Microsoft lost a lot more than Motorola as most of the MSFT patents, patents that MSFT has been using against other Android manufacturers, were found to be invalid. MSFT has a lot more to lose than Motorola. Just as Apple. With every case more and more of their patents are turning out invalid. And the ones that are not, are so small that is easy to work around.

The patents that Apple and MSFT was counting on as "fundamental" patents, have proven to be smoke and mirrors and invalid.

And then there is the Motorola patents that Apple and MSFT infringe. Apple has already been found guilty in Germany. And those patents, unlike Apple's garbage patent which is easy to work around, it is fundamental in all iOS products. It should be interesting to see how it all ends up... but IMO, in the end, none of it will amount to a hill of beans... Android will continue to dominate and innovate... Android 4.0 ICS is so far ahead of the competition that it's not even funny... and the next version in 2012, will take it even further...
