Ericsson Mobile Platforms (EMP) << In early days of WCDMA a company called EMP had a huge lead over QCOM. What happened to them? << EMP is the 'Ericsson' in the fabless ST-Ericsson JV. Their 3GSM baseband ASICs were fabricated by TI. In 2009 they replaced NXP (spun off from Phillips Semiconductor) in the ST-NXP Wireless JV with ST Microelectronics. Their Nova basebands, Thor A-Processors, and integrated NovaThor modems which use ARM A9 and A15 Cortex IP cores have yet to gain much market traction ... stericsson.com - Eric -
