We moved to our present house decades ago...when we were getting settled that first Dec, a friend who also lived a mile away, said not to worry--we wouldn't see anyone till spring, because until then, the "genie automatic garage door opener, swallows the car and its occupants till spring"...

We come to realize that was true.

BUT....

the good news is that some of the younger folks in the area 3 summers ago decided to have an "open house Street Party for the neighbors"....this year, they had the police o.K. to barricade the street at both ends, so we could all stand and sit in the street. We all chip in with food and bring our own drinks, unless we want keg beer and so hamburgers and hot dogs and fresh corn with appetizers and pot luck dishes was the order of the day. Great fun!

SI is wonderful as it provides all of us outlets to share...GITS is a multipurpose fun thread, where we as friends can share some of our joys and our sorrows...some of the political threads are well run, and some are not, and we all know which is which...and of course, SI was originally a financial message board. These days, until we have some competent leadership in DC, all we can do is say what we are feeling and thinking about the situation we find ourselves in, and hope that we will find a way to rid ourselves to such incompetent leadership.....
