<<So liberalism is about saving us, but it's not religious. That's funny.>>
Glad you appreciated it.
Liberalism is about maximizing all individuals potential (you, me, our neighbors) by wisely investing in the community. Underachievement by a group of people not born on third base is a social waste, economically speaking. The pie gets bigger for all, rich and poor when we work together on infrastructure and the public interest. Leaving willing people behind because of their personal circumstances they can't control, is ultimately expensive.
The relationship of the healthy community to all it's individuals is something conservatives do not process. Except where it transfers the community's wealth to an individual they approve of, the American racket that has virtually taken over the GOP legislators, and too many of the Democratic ones, too.
Liberals believe investing in prevention is cheaper than punishment. "Small government" conservatives prefer jails and cruel conditions, makes them feel jiggy inside to see a million people who don't look like them in a prison, and make Bubba jokes of the abuses.
Oh and torture too, another fundamental difference between the "liberal" and conservative "mind." Speaking of religion, didn't the Church use torture historically, BTW?? Stark differences.
Ironically, Jesus apparently supported forgiving enemies, feeding the hungry, clothing and sheltering the poor, redemption, and peace over war. I may have to reconsider that part, perhaps when it comes to Jesus as another liberal, you are correct, Brumar. |
