"Most liberals hate Rand for being so caustic and mean"

You have not demonstrated that she is either of those things. Even using quotes from fictional characters does not appear to assist your premise. If her philosophical views on democracy makes her "mean", then Jefferson was mean and "most liberals" can hate him, as well.

"A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine."

Thomas Jefferson

As far as your desire to find a label for me...that is feckless. I can defend liberals and republicans, christians and atheists on issues where either are deserving of defense. This ridicule by association indulged in so frequently is no different than condemning a mechanic or a cook on the basis they are alcoholic or vegetarian. For all you know I am quite capable of criticising Ayn Rand. Indeed, I am intrigued that you despise her philosophy because you think she was "mean" and I wonder how her character would invalidate her ideas? And (of course) I am curious as to whether you can discover evidence that she was mean. Many people knew Ayn Rand intimately for many years and such an accusation is not commonly heard even by those with very self serving agendas...
