TO ALL: DR. AKINS RESPONSE TO THE CYMER INVESTOR CONSORTIUM.

Frankly, I'm a little disappointed but I want to thank each and every SI and non SI shareholder who supported our efforts. As I don't have much else to contribute here from a technical standpoint or a 'wall-street' standpoint, I will be an infrequent poster herein but continue to read every post as I have since post @3000.... All I can say is 'WE TRIED'.

Keep The Faith!

Craig P. :)

NOTE: The only thing I took out of the letter was my last name and mailing address. The Cymer stationary wouldn't copy.

Cymer Investor Consortium

Dear Mr................

Please accept my sincere appreciation for your letter dated November 13, 1997. In the wake of the past few months of turbulent activity it is rewarding to receive such a strong expression of support not only from yourself, but the one-percent of "fiercely loyal" shareholders you represent.

Our CFO Bill Angus and I have given your request much thought. However, after careful consideration, we have come to the conclusion that a selective meeting with a single group of individual investors would break with our established disclosure policy which prohibits us from selectively issuing information to any individual or group. Furthermore, we believe that such a meeting would set a precedent to hold future meetings with other selective groups whose objectives might be directly opposite from your own and certainly not in the best interests of Cymer and the majority of shareholders.

At Cymer, we routinely issue press releases regarding significant issues, conduct an annual meeting of shareholders, produce an annual report and provide a host of public documents which are easily accessible. Moreover, we have retained the services of an investor relations firm and have recently taken steps to improve our accessibility to investor inquiries and respond to shareholder concerns. As I'm sure you can appreciate, the volume of calls and correspondence in the past few weeks has increased dramatically, and we are making every effort to communicate with our shareholders through existing channels.

We appreciate your interest in Cymer and we encourage you to continue communicating with the company through established channels of communication.

Sincerely,

Robert P. Akins
President & CEO
