I think even those who depend on welfare and other public assistance have reason to be concerned about killing the goose that lays golden eggs. Our annual Federal deficit is about 1.5 trillion a year. That works out to almost $400 per month for each man, woman and child in this country. Close to 5K a year. And this is not all the Gov expenses, this is only the part that is BORROWED. If anyone thinks this is sustainable, they are nuts.

The reality is that any serious economic setback, like a jump in rates, inflation, or a severe decline in asset prices... or loss of faith in the dollar.... a jump in unemployment.... and all economic classes will get hit hard, including the poor. Most likely, especially the poor.

And yet, there is relatively little talk about this. This needs to be discussed more, and the party most responsible needs to take the blame. And that would be the current Mr. President.
