See my post #1061 about free Ericsson phones.

I don't think Ericsson is giving them away, however. I believe that the cellular provider pays the phone manufacturer for the phone, and then it is up to the provider to determine what to sell it for (that's why it is so much more expensive to buy a phone without signing up for cellular service - the cellular provider won't subsidize the phone).

In the Philadelphia area, Comcast Metrophone is selling the AF738 to new subscribers for $249 to $299. Bell Atlantic is selling it for $0 to $49 (after a mail in rebate of $25). I dropped my Comcast service and signed up with Bell Atlantic.
