Medicare is a train wreck because it's health insurance with the elderly, sick and dying as it's ONLY "pool" of clients! Extending it to everyone would solve it's problems. But, that's not going to happen in America today. I agree with you that people's health should not be subjected to market forces. The profit motive should be removed, as it has been in every other developed country. The necessity for profit increases our costs vis a vis theirs, and worsens our outcomes.
