Oil is both valuable and fungible, so certain folks will be enabled to create mischief for a long time to come.

If Team USA allows sufficient pipeline capacity from the Canadian oil sands, we'll be less vulnerable compared to Europe and Asia. I do believe TransCanada made a tactical mistake by routing the proposed Keystone XL pipeline thru the Nebraska Sand Hills. The odds of approval are better now that the route has been revised.

Of course, all bets are off if the worst-case climate-change scenario comes true! :o)
