That's true, Christmas doesn't go back to the first century. I don't think northern climes had anything to do with it though.

My only interest is busting the myth about it being taken over from a pagan holiday ... it seems the pagan holiday in question only dates from 274 AD and was chosen as an attempt to take over what had become a Christian holy day.
