Pure bullshit. Keynes was loudly anti-Nazi, hung out with many Jews, and lobbied hard to help Jews to safety from the coming holocaust.
The right wing has been in a giant propaganda campaign to shed its anti-semitism and racism legacy, as part of a great attempt, over the echo-machine, of historical revisionism... liberal-by-liberal, smear-by-smear, loud and louder, the drumbeat of Big Lies about liberals.
Ask Jews about Republican Country Clubs all the way into the 1960's. Or Jewish quotas in universities and many businesses. And shall we talk about the evangelical anti-semitism -- before they discovered their path to rapture required Jews to bring about the wonderful end-of-the-world before the Jews who didn't accept jesus got eternal hell??
Almost every Jew knew the signals from Ronald Reagan to his far white right loyalists when he went to Dachau in 1985. The great Bill Graham (the colossal Rock promoter who was a child in the holocaust) understood it, and educated me and many others. Reagan was a friend of the John Birch society, and many other extremists, and this was to be a final cookie for them. The GOP bosses saw the "political" blowback and were able to get a last-minute photo-op for Reagan laying a wreath but to European Jews, the ones who had suffered for decades in the U.S. being called commies and Christ-killers by people in Reagan's base, especially after the Southern Strategy was rolling, the message of Dachau was clear.
Right then, there was the recognition in the GOP that they had an "image" problem, or deeper. It is to their credit that they broadened the tent, with some sincerity, but the "white christian supremacist" fascists are still in the tent, no doubt about it.
The smear is always the same, find some quotes out of context that are contradicted by other quotes and actions, and make the left into nazis. Its one Michael Savage's big lies to his audience of skinheads and xenophobes and racists, I would expect better here. |
