Jay, as you know I am a bankruptcy lawyer, admittedly in a ritzy metropolitan area, but NONE of my clients are reduced to eating cat food.
I represent women who are raising their own grandchildren because their daughters do not work and the fathers were just sperm squirters and vanished after squirting their sperm, and the results of that long forgotten event live in subsidized housing, and get food from food banks.
They spend tremendous amounts of money eating at McDonald's, Wendy's, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Popeye's, Captain D's, etc., and the like, and they are almost all obese as a result.
Real food is incredibly cheap in America. By real food, I mean, rice, beans, vegetables, meat, fish, fruit, nuts.
Americans can buy a pound of shrimp or a whole fresh lobster right out of the lobster tank or more than a pound of steak with an hour's worth of labor at minimum wage. A whole fresh chicken for half an hour's labor at minimum wage.
You can buy enough beans and rice to live on every day of your life for mere pennies a day.
That's been true all my life and it gets truer every day.
I admit that we can and do disagree about gold, but there can be no disagreement about the above. If you don't know how cheap and plentiful food is in America, you know nothing. Sorry, but it's true. All that BS about Americans going to bed hungry is BS. If a child is going to bed hungry in America, that child's mother (and maybe father if the father is still in the picture) is freebasing the money away. |
