Well I sense that most of the regulars here are more versed in biotech technicalities than am I. I am also an "enthusiast" but not as well informed as most of the rest here appear to be. So I am happy when I think I am learning from them. Nonetheless, I think almost everyone will agree that it is difficult to predict outcomes in biotech with any great assurance. In that regard, I have been struck by the fact that nobody at Amgen early on seemed to have a clear picture how well it would do. If they had, they would certainly have loaded up in 1983/4 but they did not. I bought a position then for around $5000 that by the early 2000s had grown to several million dollars. Sheer luck.
