So those who think government will suddenly find religion and care about society must be smoking something for they cannot point to a single instance in history when government reversed course prior to its extinction willingly. Government has military power and it will use that power against their own people to retain control. This is historically always the end game no matter what form of government we look at be it republican, totalitarian, or monarchy.
