President Bush 42 was very skilled at turning out the conservative vote. Part of the reason he lost the 2006 midterm was that with large majorities in both chambers of Congress he failed to push any of the life preserving legislation he campaigned on. The religious right got tired of showing up and then getting ignored. Romney is slightly less worse than Obama. The goal is to elect the most conservative person who can still beat the idiot.
