The ocean hydro thermal vents & volcanic tube idea is one of the plausible pathways that has been suggested by a very well known theory presented by Gunter Wächtershäuser you prolly heard of already iron-sulfur world theory . Whats funny about this theory gaining traction over the surface "primordial soup" idea is the ID'ers thought they scored some huge victory in this , that science moved on and may have developed a new thesis as from 1954 .

Then we have Christian de Duve , 1991 Nobel prize winner who describes how the first cells may have arisen and suggests that they may have been like those same organisms that exist today near deep-sea hydrothermal vents . We're talking one of the giants of science here who's saying in effect that life forming is almost an automatic function of the Universe and just a by-product of these processes we know to have existed in the early Earth .

From Dust to life giving Dust ....see they even have it right in their own scriptures ,
life arose from dust ! ;o)
