The screen is reflective so the artificial light will be swamped by daylight.

The frontlight would be off in outdoors situations so this wouldnt be a factor.

It might be that the frontlight creates a gap between the touchscreen and the Mirasol display itself causing reflections that dampen performance. Complete speculation on my part, but this is what caused subpar outdoor performance in first generation OLED's. It was only when Samsung integrated the touchscreen and the OLED that the display could even match LCD outdoor performance.
