The only carrier I've seen was the Constellation, a huge non-nuclear carrier. My father-in-law's Bomb Group reunion organized the tour in San Diego. I was astounded.

On the flight deck I had no visual clue that the ship was a movable object. It looked more like a regular airport. Below decks was an absolute maze. I venture that sailors serve for years without meeting everyone on the ship.

The hangars were most impressive.
