Fred, You must select the short account (not margin or cash) to avoid error messages on order entry. I recently found out that they have to call US Clearing before they can place any short sales, which takes about a minute. I have shorted succesfully and seamlessly with Web St., but after hearing about the phone call, I've decided to short with Datek if I'm in a hurry. Web Street is planning to become their own clearing firm in the next few months. I believe this would allow them to streamline things to the point where they become both the fastest and cheapest broker on the net. Esteban
