I have to say, your post may be one of the more amusing and delusional posts I have ever had posted to me.
3 days to let you think you slipped the hook.... oh, I see, you've laid an elaborate trap for me and I fell right into it....."just don't throw me in that thar briar patch!"
So all the time you spent as "Coach" and Grand League Charlatan was about spending time with your son. Was it the only reason? "no", but was it the driving force? "absolutely!!"
Here's the test for that.... "did you volunteer to coach youth sports before your kid was in said sports?" "Did you continue to volunteer to coach youth sports after your kid had grown out of those sports?" (these are not rhetorical questions)
I didn't coach baseball until my son started playing. I was a pretty decent ball player at one time, but it never occured to me to coach other people's kids until my son was ready to play. My son has one more season of little league, then the professional coaches at the school takes over. I have no intention of coaching other kids once my son is done with little league.
I didn't coach football because I don't know football. I didn't coach basketball because I don't know basketball and my son has no interest in it. But baseball...well, the planets aligned.
Please tell me that you aren't one of those freaks who pays attention to other people's kids at the ball park while ignoring your own.
You are a another Pious Youth Sports Fraud.
We'll get back to this....
The only thing you can teach in any Youth Sport is Love of the Game. Well, that's a pretty ignorant statement. It's certainly the most important thing, but it isn't the only thing.
Prepuberty...NOBODY has a clue what kind of athlete a boy or girl will be. NOBODY. And how is this important to the conversation?
At least Madoff only stole da munee.
I bet the Baseball Select Sports Teams are flourishing in your area. You and your Board blames it on the growth of soccer, lacrosse, football and Xbox. The real reason is "Daddy Ball" and weaklings that won't enforce rules. Actually, we have had the highest registrations in the league's history for four years running. We've had to close registration early because it is so popular. I happen to be a staunch enforcer of rules. I also happen to be pretty vocal about teaching a competitive game. In other words, it is futile to try and fool the kids into thinking that there are no losers by not keeping an official score. (they start keeping score at 8/9 yo). But go ahead and project whatever you want. My guess is that you experienced this very thing and that is how you know about it.
One Coaches youth sports to watch the TEAM, one by one, open a can of "want to" Are you saying this is the only reason one coaches youth sports? We don't have any coaches who don't have kids on the team. Could it be that they are there because of their kids too? Coincidence?
I mean Coach ALL the Boys or Girls the FUNdamentals of the Game. You didn't ask what I do, you asked why I was there. Again, were you coaching before your kids were in the sport? after? If not, then you might want to look up that word "pious". If so.....were you at Penn State?
You teach the team it's OK to make a mistake as long as it gets fixed. Well thank you for the lesson in coaching! Fortunately, I've got that covered. You thought you laid this elaborate trap and all that you did is make yourself look like a....wait for it....pious fraud!!!! Yes!
Your success is NOT defined by W's and L's Your success IS defined by having a team that never quits. Your success IS defined by how many players come back next season. Well then, I am pretty damned successful by your definition. AND I had fun and got to spend time with my kid. WIN WIN WIN
"What do you accomplish?" You Pious Fraud.
I accomplished so much more. Not only am I a very successful volunteer baseball coach by your standards, I have a great relationship with my family and the cherry on top is that I got you to make a fool of yourself on this thread.
What I accomplished was passing on a Love for The Game. I taught boys how to be Men. Why are you using the past tense? Surely you are still coaching after your kids were done with the sport, otherwise...yes, you guessed it...you are a delusional hypocrite
I left my career to make my family stronger. That was NOT a sacrifice. I didn't leave my career. I just chose a position that let me spend more time with my family. By having a job where my hours are primarily dictated by what is happening in Asia, I am able to spend more daytime hours with my family. It certainly is a tradeoff, but one that I will never regret making.
cmg did not contact me privately. Surprise Surprise
Feel free to reply publicly. I would have no reason to do otherwise.
Look up the definition of manliness 1st. It's only "funny" if you don't get it. Get it? ahhaha was right. Your family will kick your ass. Let's be real for a moment here, there's very little chance that ahhaha would have kids and if he did, they would be in therapy 5 days a week. If you are honest with yourself, you will admit that at least privately (since we know that you would never post that publicly). Neither you nor ahhaha has any concept of my relationship with my family. (not that I don't expect normal teenage issues). Notice that there isn't anything that you can say that would make me question the strength of my family bonds.
Know that anything you, Jorg, post to me privately just might be used against you. Why the hell would I want to post to you privately?
Any other regular of Exotic Thoughts is always welcome without recourse. ummm, ok
Enjoy the day. I am enjoying it immensely. And tryouts start tomorrow! Best time of the year!
Next time you might want to think your "trap" through a little bit. This one was kinda weak.
