You think possibly contaminating aquifers on which large segments of our population depend for survival is a trivial matter? Methane is certainly toxic, and it has already appeared in the drinking water in more than one place that just happened to be near franking operations. Measuring these things by "dollar of output" really doesn't make sense. If you fuck up an aquifer, you can't get it back.
