MMI and HTC are good examples of what I call the "flavor of the month" syndrome in the Android ecosystem. Both were once the leading manufacturers of Android phones and have fallen out of favor for seemingly arbitrary reasons. Meanwhile, Samsung is flying high now, but don't be surprised when they start circling the drain themselves. Tough to differentiate and buildup a sustainable competitive advantage when you're relying on a third party for innovation.

Nokia said adopting Android was like peeing on yourself to stay warm, and it looks like Samsung just has the most pee.
