Poverty always means less choice which means (in this case) processed foods full of empty calories. It also means a meaningless lifestyle--sedentary and full of high calorie booze which is available to both males and females when that is their goal. As well (from the other side), I am sure you know of those in the gym who eat a bit like pigs but (for now) their 70$ month membership and the social club keeps them out of the obese range...
