That public has been sold a can of goods via the green movement. In general, the "public" also believes whole grain wheats are good for you as well, and that certainly has a question mark to go along with it.

Sorry but that is politics with no truth. They indeed save energy and they indeed improve the enviornment. The smaller pollutants from the energy saved more than offsets the very small amount of mecury. Can we do better? Yes, which is why LED's will replace the CFL.

Most people who use them will soon understand that they last a very long time. I have never had one go out early and the last one replaced must have been there over 5 years or so. We didn't have very many at first because of the funky green color light of the first ones, but now that to has improved. We now only have them in the chandeler and a few long life bulbs that have not yet blown.

Whole wheat is better for you as well because of the fiber. But I would say it is highly overrated.
