Mark - Re: "Inside Intel"

This is a decent read, but not a classic "case history" of Intel.

The book is collection of "vignettes" - stories based on specific situations in Intel's historical past - describing the events that led up to these situations, the key people involoved, and the outcomes.

As such, it touches on only a fraction of Intel and dwells perhaps too much on specific personality traits (Andy Grove, for example).

There are some real pearls of information - such as Bob Noyce playing a pivotal role in the financing of AMD during its start-up phase!

However, as a detailed historical account of Intel and its past successes and failures, it comes up quite a bit short. Nowhere in the book is there an attempt at describing the overall size and capacity of the company, a breakdown of its product lines and market segments.

Again, it's an interesting description of several key events in Intel's historical past, based on the personalities of the individuals involved in these situations.
